[The residents of Old Home are treated to a rather disturbing sight: walking around with his wings looking not unlike the aftermath of some bloody fiasco, a rather young haibane in torn-up robes (clearly not the ones he was born in, it seems he's damaged these himself, judging by the direction the sleeve is torn?). He didn't appear to be hurt— the day-old stains are from when his wings grew in and he seemed more or less calm, quietly walking with a steady and purposeful step— however, the footfalls quickly became more hesitant and meandering around corners, scattering stained feathers when he startles.
He might be in need some guidance... and a trip to the clothes shop, probably; assisting him or even communicating with him could be difficult, however, as the boy seemed to be purposefully avoiding the other haibane, lingering around corners to spot them and disappear down other route whenever he spied them.
Was he frightened by all the strangers? Excessively shy? Or perhaps too proud and vain to be seen in such a state? Guess.]

1 - Getting into a routine
Jan. 6th, 2016 10:31 pmA.
[Nagame was glad to have a room in the old home, but something seemed off. It wasn't until she'd finished sorting her own room up that she realised.
The main buildings were clean, but they didn't feel clean enough. She'd seen people, the girls who found them cleaning so she knew it was being done.
That didn't stop the feeling though. So one morning she got a mop and bucket and started scrubbing. Starting with the hall outside her room, eventually she'd move to the others. It didn't make much of a difference to how it looked, but it did help. Even if the mop felt strange in her hands and she dropped it a few times while she cleaned. She winced every time it happened, at least most the rooms were empty and everyone should be awake by now. In fact, there's someone now. She gave them a small nod.]
Good morning...
B.
[Working was like cleaning, it felt foreign, like she'd never done it before. Not that it would make any sense. She should have worked before, shouldn't she? She wasn't sure of her age, but she wasn't young enough to have never worked.
Maybe all the Haibane felt like that. The whole thing was so strange she hadn't thought to ask...
Still she was somewhat enjoying it, even if she sounded as stern as ever. There was something nice about the job, about having something to do. It helped that there was something nostalgic about it at times, not that she knew what. People she'd met before would get a small nod. If she was free she go greet them. She couldn't have a long conversation but she could stop for a moment.]
What are you doing here? Did you need something in town?

[This cocoon seems totally disinterested in keeping its little hatchling, as Rian wakes up deposited backwards on the floor. His legs are still half in the cocoon, so it's an awkward few seconds where he tries to roll over and keep coughing out liquid without it drowning him again, but he manages... don't look at him during this trying time...
After he frees himself properly and kicks the outside of the split cocoon for good measure, he just--sits there, on the floor, looking down at himself. He sticks out his tongue, miming a gag.]
Ew. [And then, looking up,] Fetch me a towel, would you? Or maybe a whole bath.
[The littlest prince, sitting in a puddle of weird cocoon goo.]
TAKE.....these broken wings | just one pls
[The Haibane who tells him in gentle, simpering words that it's going to be difficult to get his wings, but he'll get through it! Everyone does! - well. They piss him off. He snaps enough times about being treated like a baby that he's left to mope feverishly on his bed - supervised, but not hovered over. It's still a bit much.
His wings take their sweet time, enough that the Haibane watching him has dozed off by the time he can tell that it's time. Damn them, what an idiot-- He hauls himself out of bed and roots through the medical kit in the dark, then stumbles his way into the hall. The loose robe is slipping and already dotted with blood in the back from what anyone can recognize as the movements of the wings trying to break through the skin, and if there's one thing he shouldn't be right now, it's upright. Upright and wandering, as he's going to go as far as he damn well can before the whole flesh-moving thing becomes too much.
Rules are for losers. In his hand is a pair of small scissors, the ones from the medical kit that are meant for nice things like cutting bandages, and not whatever this is. Which is, through labored breaths and a tiny bit of fevered delirium,]
I'm sick of this! I don't want these ugly things-- Why don't I just cut them out? Do you think I can reach?
[well. he's trying to reach. he's doing that now. he might also be weeping, lowkey.]
and a prompt with less suffering
[He'd have to be blind and deaf not to notice the reactions he gets from the other Haibane, already. It's obviously these stupid wings--he doesn't see the problem, if his are black and most of them are gray, who cares? It's not as if he chose to have different colored feathery abominations pop out of his back!
All things considered, he's sick of it already. He almost (almost) understood it from the people in town, when he was left very much to his own devices to beggar himself for clothes, since those people don't have to live in hovels with stupid wings and stupid halos at all... But at the same time. If the whole town of Glie burned to the ground tomorrow, he probably wouldn't feel a thing for those people. But these, the other Haibane?
These stares are just rude. He's already figured out how to flutter his wings irritably, which makes just enough people uncomfortable for him to keep doing it. How do you like him now?? As such, anyone who looks directly at him, whether they're even looking at his wings or not, will get the same Loudly Annoyed reaction:] What? Go on, say it! I know you all want to run your fat mouths at me, so do it!
[making friends]
OR: less suffering 2.0
[When he's not shrieking, Rian has taken it upon himself to investigate just what's so bad about having black wings.
Of course, his method for this is suddenly appearing much too close to other people and reaching out to simply pinch the edgemost feathers of their regular, gray wings, if he can do it without being noticed first.
Either way,] I don't see what the big, terrible deal is. Yours look filthy compared to mine, anyway.

oo1 - intro
Jan. 5th, 2016 09:12 pmone — waking up
[ The cocoon cracks open, and though the liquid that fills it spills out, the boy inside does his damndest not to go with the flow of it. Even though he had been the one to crack it open, his fingers dig deeply into the odd, soft texture of the cocoon around him to prevent going with the flow. He's not sure why, but he's afraid of falling out. Even though the liquid makes him want to cough and vomit it back up, he stubbornly holds on until it's drained enough that he breathes in his first breath of air, which is a gasping, rattling breath despite himself.two — wings (only one person, please)
If you were unlucky enough to be around for this, at least you get to see the stubborn occupant looking no better than a drowned rat even as he still clings to the broken sides of the cocoon. He's scrawny, but clearly fiery, since whoever is waiting outside is given a vicious, scathing glare, as if you're responsible. However, that glare might be odd considering what one of his eyes looks like. ]
Who the hell are you?
[ ...He's a cheerful boy, can't you tell? ]
[ He's not stupid. That's what he keeps thinking to himself as he lays with his stomach on the bed, burying that strange eye into the pillow. No one will say what's coming, but it's not hard to guess. He's seen people going to get bandages and a medical box, and he can feel a tightness by his shoulderblades. He's seen the wings on everyone else. It's not hard to make the connection.three — halo by beyonce
They have to come out somehow.
Part of him wishes that they would just come out already, since the tight feeling on his shoulders just makes him anxious. Get it over with, since it's better to be done with it. It's what he'll say, but at the same time, he's frightened. They have to come out somehow, so it will hurt, won't it? That thought makes his jaw tighten, and he grips his pillow more tightly.
Maybe you've been given the duty of looking after the new Haibane? Just don't tell the boy that it's your first time looking after one, since you might get an earful on that subject. ]
[ After his fever breaks, Corbin is at least ready to join everyone else, but... He doesn't like it. As he sits at breakfast, he feels peoples' stares on him as soon as he enters. Part of him knows that it's fair, but mostly, he bristles at the very thought. The stares, even if they're just surprised and polite, aren't welcome. After all, the eye, he thought he could hide as soon as he could manage to find an eyepatch, but hiding the wings isn't so easy. After all, instead of the light, charcoal grey that the Haibane's wings are supposed to be, his are black.four — get a job hippie
He doesn't want to think about what that means. He even tries to tell himself that he doesn't care as he takes a seat as far from everyone else as possible, but as he looks down at his place setting, he feels that something is off. For some reason, this sloppy presentation bothers him... He looks up to someone nearby, as if he's going to ask for something else quite sourly, but he ends up deciding against it.
But finally, he seems to get over his stubbornness enough to at least ask for something. Considering he was wanting to just sit here in silence the whole time, this is impressive. ]
You. [ yes, you ] Pass me a croissant.
[ He's in such a bad mood that he's not even polite with his request, but you have to wonder if a good mood would really improve his manners that much... ]
[ They said he had to get a job, so fine. Fine, he'll get a job, even though it's ridiculous that he should have to work, so far as he's concerned. He can still barely manage to move his wings like they're actually a part of his body, so he feels like he should get something of pass. To be fair, he might if not for his terrible personality. Corbin's temperament absolutely hasn't improved even after most of the pain from those wings bursting out of his back had subsided, so maybe someone had been hoping that getting a job would improve his mood. Who knows.i ; His first stop is the library, since really, it feels like the place he's most drawn to. Corbin takes his time looking at the old books, and it at least seems to better his mood to some extent, though not much. He seems to be looking for something, but if he sees another Haibane in the library, he'll actually start a conversation on his own that isn't quite so rude.
Are all the books here this old? You can barely read some of them.
ii ; But unfortunately, he's a bit too young to work in the library. It's where he would have preferred, since he felt a little more comfortable away from people, but even though he had tried to plead his case... No luck. At the very least, someone helpfully points him to the post office, since they inform him that they offer jobs that even a young Haibane can take. Though when they had said that, Corbin had been imagining something like sorting letters. Something away from people, most importantly.
And yet, when he leaves the post office, it's with a satchel in hand. If you've been here for a while, you're likely to recognize it as meaning that he'll be delivering your mail from now on, though... He doesn't seem happy about it. ]
Delivering mail? This is ridiculous! Surely there's something more dignified than this!
[ no, there is not... But at least you can overhear this small tantrum, so congratulations!? ]
Whoops he's going exploring (OPEN)
Dec. 28th, 2015 06:59 pm[So.
Kai spends a few days resting up and getting settled into this weird place that he is apparently stuck in. But after a week or so, he starts to get restless. And when he gets restless, that means it's time to bundle up and explore.]
1 - Western area
[In the morning, right after breakfast, Kai heads out to the western side of Glie, past the windmills. He will stop at the woods, of course, but if anyone wants to check out the river or the windmills, the morning is the time to do it.]
2 - Eastern area
[After lunch, Kai heads East, to the farms. It's much louder over there, but it's livelier too. Time to mess with farm animals!]
